TargetWarp is a custom Motion Warping tool that allows control over root motion animation motion by adjusting character movement to match any target position by the end of the warp. Motion Warping still preserves the natural feel of the original motion -  by calculating a scale factor for all selected warp-keyframes. This keeps animator’s original motion curves intact.
I built this tool during the development of Etherburn, the first ever Steam game I worked on handling gap closing finisher animations. After the project wrapped, I decided to refine the system into a standalone tool with a focus on accessibility, flexibility, and ease of use for other developers. The result TargetWarp was released on the Unity Asset Store, where it quickly gained traction and received a positive response from users.
Six months ago, TargetWarp started as a simple experiment to bring motion warping into Unity. Since then, it has gone through countless iterations, refinements, and real-world testing. What began as a custom script for one use case has evolved into a fully-featured, flexible tool ready for production.
